Kindle Fire – a replacement for eInk Kindles?

Tagged: ,

Great news! Kindle Fire has just been unveiled. You can even preoder it at for $199.

We’ve finally got a tablet on the market which can compete with Apple iPad. At least in popularity. With a 7-inch display, the Fire is about half the size of the iPad. And it’s also less than half the price of the cheapest Apple tablet. For my taste that will be an ideal candidate for a sofa web browsing :)

But what about traditional Kindles? I hope Amazon will continue enhancing them too… after all, Fire is just another tablet, with a screen which stresses the eyes, and therefore can’t be a replacement for our old-fashioned eInk-powered Kindles.

I just got my Kindle the basic one and love it as an e reader. I have an iPad but reading on iPad gets my eyes very tired and it is not relaxing. I hope amazon continues to enhance the traditional kindle. Fire is another tablet and it is a total different product line as far as I am concerned.
